Create Your Own Country and Constitution
Live course taught by Sharon Hamric-Weis for Summer 2026 High School, Middle School Government/Law
Summary

Have you ever wanted to be in charge of a country? In this class, you get to be king (or president, prime minister, or commander in chief) for a week! Join us to learn the fundamental building blocks needed to take your new nation from idea to (imaginary) body politic.

Course Description: In Create Your Own Country and Constitution, students will use their imagination to design a brand-new country in a fictional land on Earth or a futuristic Mars, using our own U.S. Constitution as a blueprint. They will provide the background of why the country was created and give the design of the flag, designate a symbol, and write lyrics for a national anthem. They will create a simple constitution to bring their ideas to life of what principles the country should hold dear, all while having fun!
