 Get the skills you need to be successful in life outside of your parents’ home. In this course you’ll learn the basics to being a responsible adult from finding a job to paying bills to caring for your car (and much, much more).

How to get the most out of Adulting 101, Part One with Inshal Chenet And Jason Negri:

  • Read assignments before watching the recordings.

  • Watch that class's recording.

  • Do the assignments, quizzes, and any extra work assigned for that class.

Course description: The hardest thing about graduating high school is the long list of adult activities that were never explained. We polled college students to find what they wished they had learned: tire changes, jump-starting, budgets, the 80/20 rule, taxes, credit cards, job searching, and much more.

Class 7: How to be miserable; making S.M.A.R.T. goals

Class 8: Cars: What's under the hood?

Class 9: Cars: Tire changes & air; jump starting

Class 10: Cars: Traffic laws; accident protocol

Class 11: Cars: What do the warning lights mean?

Class 12: Make-up day; Student free-for-all questions on any topic

Course materials: All course materials are provided FREE by the instructors as PDF files.

Homework: Homework will include short readings, practical exercises (putting lessons into action), and auto-graded quizzes. Time spent on homework will vary but expect to spend approximately one hour outside of the classroom on your assignments.

About Inshal Chenet

Inshal Chenet and his wife are both proud homeschool graduates. Mr. Chenet has lived in 18 different places around the globe since he was born in Bedford, Texas. He comes from a family of seven and his father served in the United States Air Force.

After serving a year in NET ministries, Mr. Chenet went on to attend Wyoming Catholic College and received his BA in Liberal Arts, and then received his MA in Theology from Christendom College.

He teaches Science, Theology, History, and a variety of other subjects for Homeschool Connections and other local groups, and is currently starting a boy's high school, St. Joseph the Worker Academy.

On the side, Mr. Chenet runs Cottonwood farms, a small farm community with several catholic families and many animals such as: a milk cow, pigs, maple-tapping, bees, sheep, goats, and chickens.

He is a certified COR backpacking instructor and enjoys canyoneering, caving, and camping when he can find the time for it. But most of all, Mr. Chenet loves spending time with his wife and four children and the vibrant community that they live in.

About Jason Negri, MS, JD

ATTORNEY

A member of the State Bar of Michigan since 2003, Negri’s solo practice specializes in transactional law, wills & trusts and small business needs. He is a member of the Estate Planning & Probate section, and is a co-founder of the Religious Liberty Law section of the Bar.    

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Negri serves on the board of the Patients Rights Council, based in Steubenville, OH. He is also the founder and Executive Director of The Daniel Coalition, based in Whitmore Lake, MI.  

AUTHOR

Negri has written articles which have appeared in Faith magazine, Crisis Magazine Online, and Columbia, the monthly magazine of the Knights of Columbus. He co-authored the booklet Freedom to Flourish: A Catholic Analysis of Doctor-Prescribed Suicide and Euthanasia, published in 2011 by the Knights of Columbus as part of their Veritas series. He also authored the booklet Twenty Answers on End-of-Life Issues, published in 2014 by Catholic Answers, Inc.

EDUCATOR AND SPEAKER

Negri has taught courses in Business Law and Education Law as an adjunct professor at Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  He has also taught both Civics and Intro to Law on the high school level.   He speaks nationally on the practical and ethical aspects of end-of-life issues, and has provided workshops and training to those seeking to improve their ability to effectively communicate these issues.    

MEMBERSHIPS

Negri is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.   He has served on the boards of two different charter public schools in Southeast Michigan, and is the elected Treasurer of Hamburg Township in Michigan, where he resides with his wife Samantha and their children.
