This course provides an engaging classroom experience to immerse students into the captivating narrative of World War Two. Middle school students will gain a deep understanding of the historical events, influential figures, and lasting impact of this pivotal moment in global history.
How to get the most out of this course:
First, carefully read the course details below.
Prepare a notebook for note-taking and homework.
Students begin the course by clicking on the "Recording" and watching Mrs. Stanley's lecture for Class One.
Next, students should click on the Homework and complete the work in their notebook or on their computer. Turn to your parent for grading.
Answer keys are supplied with each lesson. Students are on the honor system.
If you need to review, go back and watch the recording again and/or go over the PowerPoint.
Repeat until all 10 classes are complete.
The Final Exam is an automated quiz and should be taken under the parent's supervision.
Once the course is completed to the parent's satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

Course Description: We will explore the events leading up to World War II, famous generals and battles, and any relevant legal issues that arose in America during this time period.
Course outline:
Week One - Causes of WWII
Week Two - The War Begins
Week Three - Battle of Britain and American Neutrality
Week Four - The Pacific Front
Week Five - The Eastern Front
Week Six - Action in Africa
Week Seven - Pearl Harbor and the Battle of Midway
Week Eight - D-Day
Week Nine - The Holocaust
Week Ten - The War Comes to an End
Week Eleven - Project Presentations (optional)
Course materials: Provided free online or by the instructor.
Homework: Original sources and legal documents will be reviewed, as well as short videos watched and analyzed. Assessment is measured through weekly auto-graded quizzes. Homework should take approximately one hour per week to complete. There is also a Final Project in which six hours of work is required. Students choose their hands-on project idea at the beginning of the course for instructor approval. Optional: students can present their project to the class in the last week.
Fee: For all 11 classes: $157 if you register on or before November 15; $177 if you register after Nov. 15. (Registration closes one week before the first day of class. After that date, registrations are not guaranteed. There is a $20 surcharge for late enrollments after the course is closed.)
