Summary

Give your middle school student the basics of life science and human biology. This semester covers anatomy and all the major body systems (with the exception of the reproductive system). In the following semester, we will explore animals, plants, & more.

Middle School Life Science, Part One with Victoria Cerise


How to get the most out of  Middle School Life Science, Part One with Victoria Cerise:

  • First, read the course materials (syllabus) below before watching the first recording.

  • Then have a notebook ready and available for class notes each recorded session.

  • Do the quizzes and any extra work assigned for that week.

  • Once the course is completed to the parent's and professor’s satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

Special notes: All course materials are provided FREE by the instructor. This is Part One of a two-part course. After completing this course, please watch the part-two recorded version of this class.

Suggested Grade Level: 6th to 8th grade

Suggested Credit: One full semester Science or Life Science

Course Description: In Middle School Life Science, students are expected to achieve various objectives and lay a solid foundation for high school science and beyond. Topics will include human biology, animals, plants, and more. Part One of this course covers the basics of the human body, system by system. We will focus more on anatomy, though basic physiology is covered. Note: The reproductive system is NOT covered in this middle school course.

Week 2: Language of Anatomy

Week 3: Integumentary System

Week 4: Skeletal System

Week 5: Muscular System

Week 6: Cardiovascular System

Week 7: Respiratory System

Week 8: Digestive System

Week 9: Nervous System

Week 10: Endocrine System

Week 11: Urinary System

Week 12: Lymphatic/Immune System

Course Materials: All materials are supplied FREE by the instructor.

Homework: Expect to spend approximately one hour per week preparing for the live class. The sequence of events will be:

1. Read the assigned reading (when applicable, not all weeks have assigned reading)

2. Write the provided vocabulary words in your notebook.

3. Watch the recorded lecture.

4. Take the weekly computer-graded quiz.

Victoria Cerise, BSN, lives in Cincinnati, OH with her husband. She graduated from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and worked in the Emergency Department as an RN. Now, she uses her medical knowledge to teach science to students to help them learn the beauty of God’s design in our lives. She also works as a professional Catholic wedding photographer to help show the beauty of a God-centered marriage within her work. She has been strongly involved in prolife activism since college, and continues to do activism today through her photography and prayers. When not teaching or photographing, she is typically found learning new homemaking skills in one of her favorite places ever: her log cabin home!
