Materials

  • Course materials: Lingua Latina Book 1: Familia Romana by Hans Orberg, ISBN 13: 9781585104208. This book is used for multiple years of grade school Latin and need only be purchased once. Students may purchase a used copy through bookfinder.com.

The students will use all flashcards from GS Beginning Latin again. Please make sure you have them and remake them if you do not. A working microphone is required for this course. Starting on the first day of class, 60 blank flashcards for vocabulary words and terms must be available to the student. Some means of taking pictures of flashcards and uploading them to the course page will be required (this can be as simple as using your mobile phone).

Homework

Students will be expected to spend 20-30 minutes every school day (the same as GS Intermediate Latin, Part One) making or studying vocabulary flashcards, completing reading assignments, and taking online quizzes. The instructor will provide example flashcards and pronunciation videos. Additionally, students will teach and practice basic conversational skills with parents (or knowledgeable siblings). Once per semester, students will submit a creative project.
