Course Description: Would you like to be completely prepared for college writing? When you take this college prep course, you’ll learn advanced research and writing techniques for argumentative research writing, how to craft an advanced research paper and understand style guides (APA, CMS/Turabian, MLA, AP) — and become comfortable with the writing skills you’ll use in college-level writing. A bibliography and research paper will be written during the course, and students will learn how to cite sources, use advanced methods of outlining, and master revising, editing, and final draft completion for upper-level academic papers.

Students are required to have registered for Advanced Rhetoric & Writing 1: Rhetoric, Figures of Speech, Essays, & Papers (HS 12-1). Homework
LIVE course and Instructor Access students will have weekly writing assignments with grading and direct feedback from the instructor (parents will grade Recorded students' work), with an estimated four (4) to five (5) hours per week for homework outside of class time that includes researching, reading, writing, and responding to feedback.
Fees
Fee: For all 10 classes: $269 if you register on or before November 15, $289 if you register after November 15. (Registration closes one week before the first day of class. After that date, registrations are not guaranteed. There is a $25 surcharge for late enrollments after the course is closed.)

About Sharon Hamric-Weis
During her last year of teaching, Mrs. Hamric-Weis converted to the Catholic Church and was confirmed. Upon her acceptance to the Dickinson School of Law, she and her husband relocated to her home state of Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Hamric-Weis practiced law as Assistant Counsel for the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole and has been published in the Dickinson Journal of International Law, as well as working as a decision writer for the Pennsylvania Board of Workers’ Compensation.
After working in law, Mrs. Hamric-Weis left her employment to raise her children and homeschool for several years before returning to work as a paraprofessional teaching and caring for a student with multiple disabilities.
She is happy to be homeschooling her three children and teaching the advanced writing courses for Homeschool Connections.
Jamie Driver
Jamie grew up as the eldest of six kids in her Catholic homeschooling family and is a former Homeschool Connection's student herself. Soon-to-be Mrs. Flores, she is getting married in November and lives in the Dallas, Texas area. Jamie spends her time instructing and choreographing all styles of dance at local studios, but her primary passion and focus is tap dance. Jamie believes in encouraging students to step outside their comfort zone, having fun, and using their unique talents to glorify God. Outside of teaching dance and monitoring classes Jamie is working on making products and mailing orders for her Catholic online business, Saintly Sacrifices. In her free time, you can find her at adoration and visiting a local coffee shop with a friend.
