Join this course to study Ancient Israel, Greece, and Rome to learn how the classical world laid the groundwork for the conversion of Rome. (This course fits with the Ancient Era of the Grade School Unit Study Program for grades 3-6 so that your whole family can study the same era at the same time. Class Instructor: Mr. Phillip Campbell

Course Description:  This course will guide students through the history of the ancient world from Israel through the conversion of Rome with an emphasis on how the cultures of the classical world set the stage for the coming of Christ. Particular focus will be on ancient Persia, Greece, and Rome. Students will also study the characteristics of the Early Church and follow the growth of Christianity through the Roman persecutions to the conversion of Constantine. The course will follow closely the outline in Dr. Warren Carroll's book The Founding of Christendom.

He taught history and Scripture for the St. Augustine Homeschool Enrichment Program for ten years and is the author of the popular ” Story of Civilization” series by TAN Books. Mr. Campbell has also been published by The Catholic Textbook Project, Ave Maria Press, Our Sunday Visitor, Arx Publishing, and Arouca Press and his articles have appeared in online and print journals such as the St. Austin Review, New Oxford Review, and New Liturgical Movement.
