How to Get the Most Out of Pre-Algebra with Emily Nardozzi:

Welcome to Glencoe Pre-Algebra!

  1. To get the most out of this course, I suggest that each class you follow a routine.

  2. First, you should watch the recording (some classes there are two recordings) .

  3. Following this, you should complete the homework that has been assigned for those lessons.  Most of the homework problems that are assigned are odd-numbered so that you can check your homework in the back of the textbook.  The homework is meant to be your practice to prepare you for the quizzes and tests.  After the homework is complete, you should take the quiz that corresponds to those lessons.

  4. Once a chapter is complete, you will notice that there will also be test in addition to the normal material.  I hope that this class serves to help you grow in your knowledge and understanding of mathematics!

This is Part One of a two-part course.

Course materials:  Mathematics: Applications and Concepts, Course 3, Student Edition (Glencoe Mathematics), 2005 Edition. We recommend purchasing the book used as they can be found for as little as $0.99 plus s/h: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0078668484/catholictreas-20 (click on Used).

Note:  You can also buy the Teacher's Edition if you would like to have a textbook with solutions to all problems (student edition only provides answers to odd-numbered problems).  The downside to using only the teacher's edition is students will not be able to do their homework problems without seeing the solutions right in front of them.  This could serve as a great second text to use for extra practice. The ISBN for the teacher's edition are below.

  • ISBN-10: 0078668514

  • ISBN-13: 978-0078668517

Homework: 2-4 lessons per class with 15-20 homework problems per lesson, 1 short quiz per class, and a chapter test approximately every other class.

Answer Key: An answer key booklet is not included with this course.

About Emily Nardozzi, MEd

Emily Nardozzi received her undergraduate degree in mathematics and secondary education from Saint Mary’s College of Notre Dame in 2009. She then participated in Notre Dame’s ACE (Alliance for Catholic Education) program, earning a Masters in Education. Mrs. Nardozzi taught at St. Jude in St. Petersburg, Florida for three years and at Father Gabriel Richard High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan for three years.

Emily Nardozzi lives in Michigan with her husband and five beautiful children. She spent my childhood playing school and fell in love with math during her academic years.

When she began studying in college, her heart kept pulling me to become a math teacher. She have taught and tutored math for over 14 years. It brings her great joy to find creative ways to explain math concepts and watch the "light bulb moment" happen for her students when concepts click and make sense.

Teaching for Homeschool Connections has been a tremendous blessing, and she cherishes the ability to teach math in an atmosphere of faith and love. God is so good!
