Summary

Have you always wanted to learn to draw? You can -- in this simple yet powerful workshop that teaches you how to use the strongest art techniques as you learn to draw.

Course Description: Students will learn how to use the art techniques applied by the old masters, as well as more advanced techniques for a finished drawing. This is a practically focused course to help students learn the great composition skills of the western tradition and apply those skills to their sketch work. For example, they will learn how to use the Golden Ratio to compose a sketch to match the natural flow of the human eye.

Materials

  • Art pencils, sketchbook, and a plastic page protector. Ability to scan drawings or take pictures of drawings. The instructor will provide other materials for free.

Homework

  • Students will need to practice sketches to cement lessons. These practice sketches will be turned in for Mr. Chenet to critique. The assignments should take 30-60 minutes per school day.

Fees

Fee: For all 8 classes: $122 if you register on or before April 15; $142 if you register after April 15. (Registration closes one week before the first day of class. After that date, registrations are not guaranteed. There is a $25 surcharge for late enrollments after the course is closed.)

About Inshal Chenet

Inshal Chenet and his wife are both proud homeschool graduates. Mr. Chenet has lived in 18 different places around the globe since he was born in Bedford, Texas. He comes from a family of seven and his father served in the United States Air Force.

After serving a year in NET ministries, Mr. Chenet went on to attend Wyoming Catholic College and received his BA in Liberal Arts, and then received his MA in Theology from Christendom College.

He teaches Science, Theology, History, and a variety of other subjects for Homeschool Connections and other local groups, and is currently starting a boy's high school, St. Joseph the Worker Academy.

On the side, Mr. Chenet runs Cottonwood farms, a small farm community with several catholic families and many animals such as: a milk cow, pigs, maple-tapping, bees, sheep, goats, and chickens.

He is a certified COR backpacking instructor and enjoys canyoneering, caving, and camping when he can find the time for it. But most of all, Mr. Chenet loves spending time with his wife and four children and the vibrant community that they live in.

Kevin Kiernan

About Kevin Kiernan

Mr. Kiernan has been with Homeschool Connections since 2018. As a classroom monitor, Mr. Kiernan has been teaching history, geography, science, mythology, religion, and literature before class through the pre-class Jeopardy games he produces. Mr. Kiernan is a Catholic husband and father to five children, with the youngest two using Homeschool Connections to finish their high school requirements.

Mr. Kiernan is a former competitive cross country and track & field athlete, competitive weight lifting athlete, CCS and WERA licensed motorcycle road racer, AMA motocross racer, and ATV Institute safety instructor. He is currently an NRA rifle, pistol, and shotgun instructor and competitive rifle and pistol, shooter. Mr. Kiernan studied mechanical engineering at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has owned several businesses in the Powersports industry, and is currently the owner of Redline Rentals LLC. He is an active stock market day trader.

Mr. Kiernan enjoys hiking with his dog, weight lifting, mountain biking, target shooting, and spending time with his family, as well as debating politics and religion.
