Ecce Romani: Second Year Middle School Latin, Part One

Using a dynamic textbook, you will continue to grow in your Latin skills through this course as you prepare for Intermediate High School Latin the following school year.
Special Notes: This is Part One of a two-part course. Students are expected to register for Part Two offered in the spring.
Total classes: 12
Class Dates: Thursdays, September 12 to December 12, 2024 (No class Oct. 24 & Nov. 28)
Starting Time: 1:00 PM Eastern (Noon Central; 11:00 Mountain; 10:00 Pacific)
Duration: 55 minutes per class
Prerequisite: Intermediate Middle School Latin, Parts One and Two – Ecce Romani (or the equivalent.) If students have not taken Latin with Homeschool Connections, they will need a score of 80% or higher on the required entrance exam (email ehenry@homeschoolconnections.com to take the exam at a small administrative fee).
Suggested Grade Level: 7th to 9th grade
Suggested Credit: One full semester of Latin

Course Description: Ready to move forward from our Middle School Intermediate Latin courses? This course is the next step in your Middle School Latin journey! Upon completion of Part One and Part Two of Middle School Advanced Latin, you will be ready to enter High School Intermediate Latin. In this course, you will continue to learn more grammar and improve your translation skills. This course will help prepare you for future Latin classes at the high school level. You will participate in an engaging class each week in which you will learn the fundamentals of Latin.

Course Materials: Ecce Romani IA 4th Edition ISBN-10: 0133610926 (https://tinyurl.com/a6ytx6b9). A working microphone is required for this course.
Homework: Students can expect to spend two hours per week on homework assignments (primarily translations). There will be quizzes and exams to help assess students’ mastery of the material taught in this course.
Fee: For all 12 classes: $197 if you register on or before July 15, $217 if you register after July 15. (Registration closes one week before the first day of class. After that date, registrations are not guaranteed. There is a $20 surcharge for late enrollments after the course is closed.)

Debbie Gaudino
Debbie Gaudino is a veteran homeschool Mom. She has taught Latin and Theology at Homeschool Connections for the past three years. She serves her local parish as a Catechist and Spiritual Director and has been a featured speaker at Catholic Women's conferences and retreats for over a decade.
Debbie earned her BA from Fordham University in Soviet Studies and her MA from Franciscan University of Steubenville in Theology and Pastoral Ministry. She is a lifelong learner with a passion for helping other homeschool families.
