How to get the most out of Microbiology, Part One with Christine Hamilton:

  • Then have a notebook ready and available for class notes each live session.

  • Read assignments before class meetings

  • Watch the recorded class.

  • Do the assignments, quizzes, and any extra work assigned for that week.

  • Once the course is completed to the parent's and professor’s satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

Special Notes: This is Part One of a 2-Part Course. Students are expected to sign up for Part Two in the spring.

  • Week 6 Bacterial Cell Wall and Differential Stains

  • Week 7 Differential and Selective Bacterial Growth Media

  • Week 8 Biological Classification

  • Week 9 Meet the Microbes:  Prokaryotes

  • Week 10 Eukaryote Cell Structure and Function

  • Week 11 Meet the Microbes:  Eukaryotes

  • Week 12 Microbial Genetics

Course Materials: Students will be provided with materials and online resources free.

Homework:  Expect to spend approximately two-plus hours each week outside of

the classroom on vocabulary study, reading, online assignments and quizzes.

Vocabulary is assigned alongside the weekly reading for better understanding of the

material and to prepare the student for the live lecture. Most of the computer-

graded quiz material is based on vocabulary, what is presented in class and the

homework assignments. The sequence of events for each week are as follows:

  1. Read the assigned reading in the provided WordDoc

  2. Write the provided vocabulary words in your notebook

  3. Watch the recorded class

  4. Complete any assignments.

  5. Take the weekly computer-graded quiz

About Christine Hamilton, PhD

Christine Hamilton is a graduate of Ohio University, with a BS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Healthcare Administration, and NYU with a PhD in Public Health. She is VIRTUS trained in Protecting God’s Children and taught third grade PSR for her parish. Dr. Hamilton is also a homeschooling mother of two.
