Why do adolescents act the way they do? Why are teenagers so moody? Are all teens addicted to social media? Is adolescence really as bad as portrayed in the media? These questions and many more will be answered in this course where we will learn about adolescent development from a Catholic perspective.
Special Notes: Course materials are provided FREE. Additional pre-recorded lectures are provided in addition to the live class meetings.

Course Description: This course is an introduction to adolescent development and will cover many of the major adolescent development theories and focus on physical, cognitive, social, and
emotional development from a Catholic perspective.
**Parents should note that mature topics will be touched upon including
puberty, gender development, and relationships.

Week 11: Psychosocial Problems
Week 12: What’s next? A brief intro on Emerging Adulthood
Course Materials: All materials will be provided FREE by the instructor.
Homework: There will be pre-recorded lectures to view in addition to the live classes. Students will take online quizzes and complete weekly written activities and discussion questions. An application paper applying adolescent development principles to some form of media will also be required (approx. three to five pages). Expect to spend 1-3 hours per week on homework outside of class.
Fee: For all 12 classes: $207 if you register on or before July 15, $227 if you register after July 15. (Registration closes one week before the first day of class. After that date, registrations are not guaranteed. There is a $20 surcharge for late enrollments after the course is closed.)

Kristi Moore
About Kristi Moore, Ph.D.
Dr. Kristi Moore earned her PhD in Educational and Developmental Psychology from the University of Florida and is currently an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Applied Psychology program at Angelo State University. She specializes in child and adolescent development and learning and motivation.
Dr. Moore has been teaching psychology since 2009. She enjoys fulfilling her vocation as a wife and mother while her husband serves in the military. Dr. Moore and her husband are licensed foster parents and they homeschool their four children.
