Course Description: This course is designed as a foundation for understanding personal health and wellness in the areas of physical, mental, and emotional health. The interrelationships between the body, mind, and soul will be emphasized as students learn foundational life habits and the ways to create healthy lifelong habits.

Course Materials: Everything is provided FREE online from Professor Brown.
Homework: Each class will have reading assignments, quizzes, and/or written assignments that track the student’s health choices. Plan on an estimated two to three hours of work per class.

Here's what you'll learn in this course:

Class 1: The healthy body-mind-emotions connection; healthy body image; the whole person concept; what it means to “Love the Lord your God with all your mind, soul, and strength”
Class 2: Healthy Fitness; keeping your body strong and fit; the role of activity, exercise, and sleep in keeping healthy; making healthy choices with exercise
Class 3: Healthy eating; portions and healthy eating; how sugar, caffeine, and sodas affect your body and mind; making healthy choices with food
Class 4: Emotions and the body-mind-feeling connection; keeping healthy in our emotions: How your mind is connected to your feelings; stress and your health: What’s the connection?
Class 5: More on healthy feelings; anger and disappointment: The mind-body connection and anger, how anger affects your body, and healthy ways to deal with anger and disappointment
Class 6: Healthy relationships -- with God, with parents, and with friends; spiritual health and its effect on the whole person; the mind-body-spirit connection and your future

About Erin M. Brown, MA, MFA


Erin M. Brown, MA, MFA, is the creator and Director of the Aquinas Writing Advantage program. She is the author of eighteen (18) books (including Simplified Writing 101: Top Secrets for College Writing Success) and has been a professional author, editor, and university professor for over 30 years.

Erin designed the online writing program for three universities and taught at Patrick Henry College (writing, research); Cornerstone University (multiple writing courses, interpersonal communication, management and leadership, and critical thinking); and led the General Education Communications curriculum development (writing, communications, critical thinking) for Western Governors University.

Professor Brown has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing/Genre Fiction from Western Colorado University, a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Rehabilitation, and a Bachelor of Music (BM) degree in Education from Western Michigan University. Professor Brown was a homeschooling parent for 34 years and homeschooled 10 children. She lives in Michigan and enjoys writing Science Fiction and Fantasy books in coffee shops, speaking online and at conferences, and walking her dogs.
