  • Do the assignments, quizzes, and any extra work assigned for that week.

  • Once the course is completed to the parent's and professor’s satisfaction, there is a Certificate of Completion at the end to be filled in for your records.

Course Description: In this course, students will be taught basic vocabulary with an emphasis on simple verb conjugation and pronunciation. This class will lay the necessary groundwork that acts as the building blocks of learning a new language. By the end of this course, students will be able to form basic sentences, conjugate verbs in future and present tenses, and have the tools to conduct themselves through basic conversations.

Course Outline:

Section 1 - Colors Vocabulary and Review of Subject Pronouns / -ar, -er, -ir verbs in the Present Tense, as well as o-ue and e-ie Stem Changing Verbs
Section 2 - Clothing Vocabulary and Introduce e-i and -go stem changing verbs
Section 3 - Clothing / Colors, Indefinite Articles, and Review of o-ue/e-ie/e-i/-go Verbs
Section 4 Listening Comprehension, Q/A session, and Introduce -zco Verbs
Section 5 - Time Vocabulary and Introduce Verbs with no patterns
Section 6 - Food Vocabulary and review of Regular and Irregular Verbs in the Present Tense
Section 7 - Food Vocabulary and Introduction of Regular Verbs in the Future Tense
Section 8 - Analyze Spanish Menu and Review Regular Verbs in the Future Tense
Section 9 - Entertainment / Hobby Vocabulary and Introduce Irregular Verbs in the Future Tense
Section 10 - Entertainment / Hobby Vocabulary, and Review of Regular and Irregular Verbs in the Future Tense
Section 11 - Q/A Session with all Vocabulary and Review of verbs in the Present and Future Tense
Section 12 - Q/A Session with all Vocabulary and Review of verbs in the Present and Future Tense

Course Materials: All course materials provided free by the instructor.  A Spanish/English dictionary is recommended.

Homework: Students will be expected to spend about 3 to 5 hours studying per week outside of weekly classes. This is not meant to discourage students. Simply put, repetition is key when learning any new language. Audio files will be expected to be turned into the teacher.

Fee: For all 12 live classes and 8 recorded lectures: $207 if you register on or before November 15, $227 after Nov. 15. (Registration closes one week before the first day of class. After that date, registration is not guaranteed. There is a $20 surcharge for late enrollments after the course is closed.)

About Nanci Lopez

Nanci Lopez graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and also in Spanish. While born in Newark, New Jersey, her family is originally from Puerto Rico. Mrs. Lopez worked for six years with the Bloomfield School District as a Spanish Teacher and New Teacher Mentor.

During that time, she developed and implemented the Spanish and French Curriculum for the Elementary and Middle schools in the district. Mrs. Lopez taught Conversational Spanish I, II, & III to adults and senior citizens at Union County College. She also taught Spanish to healthcare and business professionals.

Additionally, she operates Conversational Spanish Online, LLC, teaching Spanish online to adults who want to make themselves more marketable in the workplace.

Mrs. Lopez homeschooled her daughter and son, and is currently homeschooling her goddaughter. In her spare time, which is rare, she loves to read and cross-stitch.

Zayra Cerise

Zayra is a mom to 3 boys, and another sweet blessing due in Oct. She is also a wife to a military man She homeschools her littles and loves to cook, bake and spend time out in the sun. Her family is currently living in OK but would love to move to Florida and start their homesteading life. She has been with homeschool connections for a short time but loves meeting all the lovely kids and families associated with homeschooling! “With God all things are possible”

Jaydalia is a homeschooling mother of four children, the eldest studying engineering at university. Born in NYC and raised in New Jersey, she lives in Pennsylvania with her family. She earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations at St Joseph’s University and studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. She worked for a year for an international bank in Manhattan after graduation and other corporate positions in NJ before getting married and having a family. Her favorite hobbies are reading, gardening, crafting and studying languages.
