Decision Making for Catholic Teens
- Summary
-
Choices, choices, choices! How do we make good decisions as a Catholic in today’s world? In this course, we will explore Father Michael Scanlan's guide "What Does God Want?" as well as the wisdom of the Saints throughout the ages and learn practical skills that can help discern God's will in both large and small decisions.
Course Description:
High school aged teens are faced with the challenge of learning to make good decisions. Developing the tools needed to make independent, Godly decisions is one of the most important skills teenagers can learn, and one that will serve them throughout their lifetime. This course draws from Scripture, the lives and wisdom of the Catholic saints, and Catholic teachings to provide solid principles for making good and Godly decisions. We will examine how to determine if a decision conforms to God’s will, the role of prayer and counsel in decision making, and the reliance on the gifts of the Holy Spirit when making difficult decisions. For every principle learned we will review different scenarios and apply those principles.

Debbie Gaudino graduated with a BA from Fordham University. After spending nearly a decade working in the Banking and Finance industry, Debbie and her husband Anthony made the life changing decision to homeschool their two children.
While homeschooling, Debbie received her MA in Theology and Pastoral Ministry and began to serve the Church in a variety of roles. Now a veteran homeschooling Mom (her son is a novice and seminarian in the Red Bank Oratory of St. Philip Neri and her daughter is a student at Franciscan University of Steubenville), it is a great joy for Debbie to continue to serve the homeschool community as a Latin and Theology teacher at Homeschool Connections.
Additionally, Debbie is the Director of Religious Education for the Parish of St. Thomas More in Manalapan, NJ and is blessed to be a Woman of Vallicella, which is a secular member of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri. In her free time, Debbie enjoys long walks on the Jersey Shore with her husband, visiting her native Brooklyn, NY for good Italian food, cooking and traveling.
Jamie Salvucci
Jamie is a Jewish convert to Catholicism. She converted in 1998 when she was in college studying music education. She met her husband during her senior year and they married in 2003. They live in northeast PA with our 5 wonderful children whom they have always homeschooled. In my spare time she enjoy acting as chauffeur, lead cook and bottle washer, chief medical liaison, curriculum advisor, and part-time jungle gym. She also love reading, knitting, not killing my sour dough starter, and coffee.
