Summary

In the Bodyworks with Bioethics for Kids series, students are introduced to anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology (when things aren’t working right) fused with some Catholic bioethics and moral theology at an appropriate age level. Each course focuses on different topics.

This course is Introduction to Our Bodies.

Course Description: Kids learn about how the body works from three perspectives: basic science (anatomy and physiology), medical science (diagnosis and treatment), and Catholic bioethics (treatment rooted in human dignity). Classes consist of a lively combination of lectures, activities, worksheets, labs, games, and optional extensions in a relaxed, active learning environment. Students are not expected to have any prior knowledge or to give correct answers in class – they are encouraged to ask questions and make guesses.

This is the first and introductory course of the kids’ series that gives an overview of life and our body’s general organization.

Instructor: Kris Correira, PA-C

Special notes

In this series, no nude anatomical pictures are presented. No topics relating to the specifics of the reproductive system and the mechanics of reproduction are covered.

Note to Parents: Due to the young ages of grade school students, we expect that you will accompany your child at all times while he or she is online, which includes attending live classes alongside your student. This will also help you assist your student with homework where necessary or help your student contact the teacher with questions. If you miss a live class, make sure to watch the recording with your student as well. Thank you for your support!
