Join us for Part Two to continue unlocking a deep understanding of ourselves and the world around us. From unraveling the mysteries of memory to dissecting the complexities of social psychology, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of behavior and mental processes. With an optional college dual enrollment option, this course empowers students to engage critically with psychological theories while fostering a deeper appreciation for Catholic values in understanding the human experience.

Course Description: Psychology provides an introduction to the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. The course introduces students to fundamental principles in neuroscience, perception, cognition, learning, memory, motivation, personality, abnormality, and social psychology. The surveyed principles prepare students to think and reflect critically about people.
**Parents should note that mature topics will be touched upon in Social Psychology (Chapter 12, Weeks 19 & 20). These topics include stereotyping and prejudice.
Course Goals:
Understand major theories of psychology.
Be able to think critically about psychology.
Be familiar with different domains of psychology.
Be able to apply psychological research to everyday experiences.
Communicate information and ideas about psychology.
All materials will be provided by the instructor. We will be using Psychology 2e which is an open source textbook. It can be found here: https://openstax.org/details/books/psychology-2e

Homework
Students are expected to do the assigned readings and watch any assigned videos. There will be one assignment and one forum each week, and one quiz every other week. In addition, students will complete an application paper and final exam at the end of the semester. Expect to spend 4 hours per week outside of class meetings.

About Kristi Moore, Ph.D.
Dr. Kristi Moore earned her PhD in Educational and Developmental Psychology from the University of Florida and is currently an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Applied Psychology graduate program at Angelo State University.
She specializes in child and adolescent development and learning and motivation. Dr. Moore has been teaching psychology since 2009.
She enjoys fulfilling her vocation as a wife and homeschool mother to her four children. Dr. Moore and her husband are licensed foster parents in Florida.
